Show Identity
Each year, students in the fall sections of 201-108 (Advanced Problems) design the STUDENT DESIGN SHOW IDENTITY for the upcoming Spring term. The designs are shared with Administrative employees and leadership within Gateway Technical College, who ultimately select the winning entry each year.
The 2024 Student Design Show Identity was designed by student Alex Barthuly. The concept of a ticket (not only to the show, but metaphorically to one’s future) against a retro- background serve as this year’s promotional identity.

Happy Trails to Longtime Instructors and Dear Friends
This year will mark the retirement of two dearly loved and longtime instructors.
Ms. Sue LaCanne retired from Gateway Technical College after the fall semester to pursue other teaching interests, and Mrs. Laura Laznicka is leaving us before our upcoming fall semester.
We wish Sue and Laura both all the joy in the world.
Sue was with the program when it evolved out of the “Desktop Publishing” Certificate in the middle 1990’s. She was a member of both the Racine and Elkhorn Campus Communities!
Sue; may your beach glass be plentiful, as well as your share of dachshund kisses. May the laughter of your grandchild be always in your ears! Much Joy always.
Laura has been with Gateway since the late 1990’s. Initially she taught both Graphic Design and Prepress courses. She has been a pillar of the Elkhorn Campus Community, advocating and acting as a spokesperson for the region. She has taught at the Elkhorn Campus since the late 1990’s, and has taught also on the Racine Campus in recent years.
Laura; may your kayaks be upright and water free. May your camp fires be filed with amazing tales and memories with your wonderful family.
